The Racetorx RTX778 has been developed specifically for the Honda CB1000R SC80, including the Black Edition.
Its compact single-block design mounts securely to the motorcycle at two points. An integrated phosphor-bronze bush provides additional external support for the gear-selector shaft.
How the RTX778 works
The motorcycle’s gear-selector shaft extends from the engine casing and is subjected to sideways load as force is transferred through the gear lever and linkage. This can allow a degree of unwanted movement and flex within the gear-change assembly.
The RTX778 fits around the selector shaft and is secured rigidly to the motorcycle using two mounting points. Its phosphor-bronze bush supports the shaft while allowing it to rotate smoothly during gear changes.
Providing support closer to the gear arm helps control unwanted shaft movement where force is transferred through the linkage. This creates a more direct connection between the gear lever, linkage and gearbox selector mechanism.
The motorcycle’s original gear arm and gear-linkage components are retained.

Construction
The RTX778 is manufactured from T6 aluminium and finished in black UV-stable anodising for corrosion protection.
A precision phosphor-bronze bush is fitted within the support body to locate and support the motorcycle’s gear-selector shaft.

Installation requirements
Lubricate the phosphor-bronze bush before installation
Apply a suitable thread-locking compound to the supplied mounting bolts
Tighten the mounting bolts to 10.7 Nm
Check that the gear arm and selector shaft move freely through their complete range
Check clearance around the support, gear arm and linkage
Recheck the mounting hardware after the initial installation
Clean and relubricate the phosphor-bronze bush every 3,000 miles or sooner when used in demanding conditions
Installation should be completed by a competent motorcycle technician.
